Joanne Penney, 40, shot dead in South Wales
Joanne Penney, a 40-year-old woman, died after being shot in the chest at a home in Talbot Green, South Wales, on March 9. An inquest heard that she suffered injuries to her heart and lung from the gunshot wound. Emergency services responded quickly to the scene after receiving reports of the shooting. They found Ms. Penney unresponsive in her living room and, despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Six people have been arrested in connection with the incident. Five individuals are charged with murder, while one is charged with assisting an offender. A senior coroner, Graeme Hughes, said the investigation would continue but is currently suspended pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings. A trial is set for October 20, expected to last six to eight weeks. The charged individuals include Jordan Mills-Smith, Marcus Huntley, Melissa Quailey-Dashper, Joshua Gordon, and Tony Porter, with Porter also facing charges related to organized crime. Following her death, neighbors expressed their shock and brought flowers to the area where the incident occurred. Ms. Penney's family issued a tribute, highlighting the deep love they had for her and asking for privacy as they mourn her loss.
