JNU fines two students ₹1.79 lakh for hosting outsiders and violating hostel rules

Jawaharlal Nehru University has fined two students a total of ₹1.79 lakh for allowing unauthorized individuals into their hostel room and consuming alcohol and hookah. The fines include charges for aggressive behavior and violating hostel rules. One student received a fine of ₹80,000, while the other was fined ₹99,000 for similar violations. The fines were issued after incidents on December 22 and January 5, where outsiders were found in their rooms. The university has warned that any future violations could lead to immediate eviction from the hostel. The students must pay the fines within five days of the notice issued on January 8.
