A 48-year-old janitor, Xie Binlong, has been sentenced to 10 and a half years in prison for a robbery at a jewellery store in Hong Kong. The incident happened on March 14, 2019, in Sham Shui Po. Xie pleaded guilty in the High Court to robbing Sun Hai Jewellery and Goldsmith. The court learned that he entered Hong Kong that day specifically to commit the crime. He was in the area with an accomplice before the robbery took place. At 10:19 a.m., Xie changed his clothes and entered the store, where he threatened employees with a pistol-like object. He stole gold items worth over HK$1.3 million (approximately US$167,200). The entire robbery lasted just three minutes.
