Jana Sena Party gains regional party status and official symbol in India

The Jana Sena Party (JSP), led by K. Pawan Kalyan, has been officially recognized as a 'regional party' by the Election Commission of India. This recognition follows the JSP's success in the May 2024 general elections, where it won all 21 Assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats it contested. The Election Commission has also reserved the 'glass tumbler' symbol as the JSP's permanent election symbol. This symbol was previously challenged in court but was secured for the party before the elections. Founded in 2014, the JSP initially struggled in elections, winning only one seat in 2019. The recent recognition marks a significant turnaround for the party, establishing it as a key political force in Andhra Pradesh.
