Jalen Brunson out at least another week recovering
Jalen Brunson, the All-Star guard for the New York Knicks, will be out for at least another week due to a sprained right ankle. He has missed the last eight games but is showing “good, steady progress,” according to coach Tom Thibodeau. Brunson is currently doing “controlled court work,” and an update on his status will come in about a week. The Knicks have played well without Brunson, winning four out of eight games. They secured a 122-103 victory against the Wizards on Saturday. Thibodeau emphasized that replacing Brunson is not simple. Instead, he encouraged the team to work together, especially in defense and rebounding, to continue winning. Due to injuries, the Knicks were down to their No. 3 point guard during the game. Cam Payne started in place of Deuce McBride, who was a last-minute scratch due to a groin injury. Rookie Tyler Kolek had a standout performance, contributing seven assists, mainly in the second quarter. In other news, Knicks center Mitchell Robinson announced on Instagram that he will not be responding to messages while he prepares for the playoffs. He expressed gratitude for fan support but emphasized the need to focus on his personal goals. Robinson is returning from an injury and contributed four points and five rebounds in his recent game against the Wizards. Thibodeau echoed Robinson's sentiment about the importance of staying focused as the season comes to a close.
