Jaishankar meets UK, Jordan counterparts on UNGA sidelines

Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held high-level diplomatic meetings on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly session in New York, discussing global economic and security issues with counterparts from the UK and Jordan. With UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, Jaishankar reviewed bilateral relations and addressed challenges to food and energy security caused by ongoing international conflicts. Talks with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi focused on regional stability and peace efforts in West Asia, following a similar review with Egypt's foreign minister. Jaishankar also met UNOPS chief Jorge Moreira da Silva, praising the agency's logistics work in challenging situations, and held talks with Antigua and Barbuda's prime minister on development and climate cooperation. India separately reaffirmed its support for a Two-State solution at a UNGA side meeting.
