Italian pizza prices rose; Tuscany offers cheapest option
Pizza prices in Italy have risen significantly, with the average cost now around twelve euros, according to a recent study. The price increase is nearly 20% over the last six years. The study, conducted by the Centro di formazione e ricerca sui consumi (Crc), found that the cheapest pizza is in Livorno, Tuscany, at an average of 8.75 euros. Reggio Emilia in the north has the most expensive pizza, averaging 17.58 euros. The rise in pizza prices is attributed to factors like the pandemic, high energy costs, and increased ingredient prices. Despite the rising costs, pizza remains a popular food item in Italy, with an annual pizzeria business turnover of 25 billion euros.
