Israel says Hamas returns unidentified body instead of hostage remains

Israel's military reported that Hamas returned an unidentified body instead of an Israeli hostage during a recent handover. Two bodies were confirmed as Kfir and Ariel Bibas, but a third body did not match their mother, Shiri Bibas. The Israeli Defense Forces stated this action violated the ceasefire agreement, which required the return of four deceased hostages. They demanded the return of Shiri Bibas along with all remaining hostages. Additionally, the remains of Oded Lifshitz, an elderly peace activist, were returned. The military claimed he was killed in captivity by the group Islamic Jihad.
