Israel prepares for extended military presence in West Bank following bus explosions
Israel's military is preparing for an "extended stay" in the occupied West Bank, as announced by the defence minister. This follows recent bus explosions near Tel Aviv, which the government labeled an attempted mass attack. The military has been conducting operations in the West Bank for a month, targeting militant groups. Defence Minister Israel Katz stated that operations will expand in Jenin, Tulkarem, and Nur al-Shams, with tanks being deployed in Jenin for the first time in over 20 years. The United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees has been instructed to halt activities in the camps. The recent bus blasts occurred during a fragile ceasefire in Gaza, which has been in place since January 19.
