Israel maintains control over Gaza-Egypt border area

Israel will not withdraw its forces from the Gaza-Egypt border, according to an Israeli source. The military was expected to begin a withdrawal in early March if the ceasefire was extended. The Philadelphi Corridor, an 8-mile strip along the border, will remain under Israeli control. The military took control of this area in May and was set to withdraw during a potential second phase of the truce. It is unclear if negotiations for this second phase have begun. The current ceasefire is set to expire on Saturday.
