Israel identifies remains of child hostages but says released body is not their mother
The Israeli military has identified the remains of two child hostages, Ariel and Kfir Bibas, but stated that another body released by Hamas was not their mother. The boys were reportedly killed in captivity in November 2023. Hamas handed over four bodies during a fragile ceasefire, which has paused over 15 months of conflict. The remains of Oded Lifshitz, an 83-year-old hostage, were also identified. The military criticized Hamas for not returning the boys' mother, Shiri Bibas. As the ceasefire remains uncertain, Israel has imposed movement restrictions in the West Bank. Hamas plans to release six living hostages on Saturday in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, while the fate of remaining hostages is unclear.
