Israel extends military presence in Lebanon as Hezbollah warns of retaliation
Israel will maintain five military outposts in southern Lebanon beyond the February 18 withdrawal deadline. Each outpost will be staffed by around 100-150 soldiers for an indefinite period, despite a ceasefire agreement requiring withdrawal. The United States reportedly supports Israel's decision, citing concerns about the Lebanese Army's ability to prevent Hezbollah from gaining ground. Israel plans to increase its military presence on its side of the border threefold. Hezbollah has threatened to resume fighting if Israel does not withdraw completely. The group’s leader emphasized that the continued Israeli presence violates the ceasefire agreement.
