Israel displaces thousands in West Bank refugee camps as military occupation begins
Israel has expelled residents from three refugee camps in the West Bank: Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams. The Israeli military plans to occupy these areas for the next year, marking a significant escalation in its operations. Israel's Defence Minister stated that around 40,000 Palestinians have been displaced. The military has deployed tanks in Jenin for the first time since 2002 and has instructed the UN's Palestinian refugee agency to cease operations in the area. The UN reported that the ongoing operations have resulted in 51 Palestinian deaths, including children, and have severely damaged local infrastructure. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has called for intensified military actions following recent attacks in Tel Aviv.
