Israel deploys tanks in West Bank cities to target terrorist infrastructure
Israel's military has deployed tanks in Jenin, expanding operations in the northern West Bank. This follows Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's directive after recent bomb blasts in central Israel. The deployment marks the first use of tanks in the area since 2005. The Israeli Defense Minister stated that 40,000 Palestinians have evacuated from refugee camps in Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams. The military plans to maintain a presence in these camps for up to a year to prevent a resurgence of terrorism. Since the start of the operations, at least 51 Palestinians and three Israeli soldiers have been killed. Violence has increased in the West Bank since the Gaza conflict began in October 2023, displacing many residents.
