Irkutsk resident gets prison for timber smuggling

A resident of Irkutsk was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison for smuggling timber valued at over 580 million rubles. The Irkutsk resident illegally exported over 100,000 cubic meters of timber after purchasing illegally harvested wood and legitimizing it through false transactions between 2016 and 2019. He was also fined 200,000 rubles. The court found the individual guilty of large-scale contraband, illegal timber acquisition, and money laundering.
