Iran to Receive Russian Su-35 Jets After Conflict Ends
Iran's army announced that its pilots have completed training for the Russian-made Su-35 fighter jets, but delivery of the aircraft will now occur only after the end of the current conflict with the US and Israel. Army representative Mohammad Akraminya said the jets were originally planned for delivery before the war, but Tehran now expects to receive them after hostilities conclude. Iran purchased the Su-35s from Russia, with pilot training already finished, and the acquisition is part of broader plans to strengthen the country's air force. Iran previously confirmed the Su-35 purchase in January 2025 and March 2023, though the number of jets was not disclosed. The Su-35 is a 4++ generation multirole supermaneuverable fighter designed to strike air, ground, and naval targets. Russia and Iran maintain strategic partnership, with Moscow blocking UN Security Council resolutions that could have legitimized strikes on Iran.
