Intuitive Machines targets successful Moon landing on March 6
Intuitive Machines has launched its second lunar lander, Athena, aboard a SpaceX rocket. This follows their first attempt last year, which ended with the lander tipping over upon landing. Athena aims to achieve a successful upright touchdown on March 6. The new lander carries scientific instruments, including a drill for ice exploration and a unique hopping drone named Grace. It will also test a lunar cellular network designed to support future astronaut missions. Improvements have been made to ensure a safer landing, including better technology for altitude readings. Athena's mission is part of NASA's efforts to promote private lunar exploration through the Commercial Lunar Payload Services program.
