Intuitive Machines plans second Moon landing with improved technology
Intuitive Machines is preparing for its second Moon landing attempt with its lander, Athena, set to launch on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. The launch window opens at 7:02 PM ET on Wednesday from Florida. Athena aims to land on the Mons Mouton plateau, closer to the lunar south pole than previous missions. It carries scientific instruments, including a drill for ice and a hopping drone named Grace, designed for rugged terrain. This mission follows Intuitive Machines' first attempt, which ended with its lander tipping over. The company has made improvements for better navigation and landing accuracy, with a mission cost of $62.5 million.
