Inquiry examines Lucy Letby's return to neonatal unit after reassignment

The Thirlwall Inquiry is investigating Lucy Letby's return to a neonatal unit after she was reassigned to desk duties due to concerns about her actions. In March 2017, Letby told consultant Dr. Ravi Jayaram she would return "whether you liked it or not." Dr. Jayaram described a meeting where hospital executives pressured consultants to apologize to Letby, despite not knowing the reasons for the apology. He later participated in a mediation session with Letby, where she claimed he and another consultant had conspired against her. Letby never returned to the unit, as police became involved in May 2017. She is currently serving 15 life sentences for murdering seven infants and attempting to murder seven others between 2015 and 2016. The inquiry will continue until early 2025.
