India launches operation to dismantle Haji Salim's global drug trafficking network
India's Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has launched 'Operation Sagar Manthan' to dismantle the drug trafficking network of Haji Salim, also known as "Lord of Drugs." This operation follows directives from Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Authorities have seized nearly 4,000 kilograms of drugs linked to Salim's cartel and arrested several Pakistani nationals. Salim's syndicate is believed to operate a vast drug pipeline across multiple countries, including India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Salim's network has been under investigation since 2015, with significant drug seizures reported in recent years. His operations involve smuggling drugs by sea, often using marked shipments to identify his cargo.
