India launches new forum to enhance data collection for sustainable development goals
India has strengthened its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by forming a new forum called the Data for Development Coordination Forum (DDCF). This initiative was established following a five-year agreement signed in February 2023 between the Ministry of Statistics, NITI Aayog, and the UN. The DDCF aims to improve data collection and monitoring of SDGs in India. It will develop data plans and facilitate discussions among key stakeholders. The forum is co-chaired by the Director General of the National Statistical Office and the UN Resident Coordinator. This new development marks a significant step in addressing data gaps related to sustainable development in India. The collaboration seeks to enhance the effectiveness of data-driven decision-making for achieving the SDGs.
