India considers plan to buy six more P-8I aircraft from U.S. during Modi-Trump talks

India is considering reviving its plan to buy six more P-8I maritime patrol aircraft from the U.S. This topic is expected to be discussed during talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump. The Indian Navy had previously delayed the procurement of additional P-8Is, which are crucial for long-range surveillance. India has already contracted 12 P-8Is in two batches, with a potential deal for six more estimated at $2.42 billion. In addition to the P-8Is, India has signed a contract for 31 MQ-9B drones, which will enhance its surveillance capabilities. The Navy is also inducting 24 MH-60R helicopters to support anti-submarine operations.
