IIT Madras unveils largest open-source dataset of human fetal brain images
IIT Madras has released a new open-source dataset called ‘DHARANI,’ featuring detailed 3D high-resolution images of the human fetal brain. This dataset includes 5,132 brain sections captured using advanced brain mapping technology developed at the institute. The research was conducted by a multidisciplinary team from IIT Madras, collaborating with international researchers and medical institutions. This dataset is now the largest publicly accessible digital collection of human fetal brain images, significantly enhancing current knowledge in neuroscience. The project was supported by various organizations, including the Indian government and private partners. It aims to improve fetal imaging technologies and advance understanding of neurodevelopmental disorders.
