ICC will announce Duterte arrest warrant through official channels
The International Criminal Court (ICC) stated that any announcements regarding the arrest warrant for former President Rodrigo Duterte will be made through official channels. This follows reports of an arrest warrant related to alleged crimes against humanity during his drug war. ICC spokesperson Fadi El Abdallah emphasized that the court has not released any press statements on the matter. He noted that investigations into the situation in the Philippines are ongoing and confidentiality is vital for protecting victims and witnesses. Duterte recently traveled to Hong Kong for a rally, amid the news of the arrest warrant. Although the Philippines withdrew from the ICC in 2019, the ICC maintains jurisdiction over alleged crimes committed during Duterte's administration from 2011 to 2019.
