ICC issues arrest warrant for former Philippine President Duterte
Three female judges from the International Criminal Court (ICC) have issued an arrest warrant for former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte for crimes against humanity. This follows an investigation into his controversial drug war during his leadership. Duterte was arrested upon returning to the Philippines from Hong Kong and was taken to Villamor Airbase. He is now en route to The Hague for trial, where the judges will confirm his identity and the charges against him. The judges who signed the warrant are Iulia Motoc, Reine Alapini-Gansou, and Maria del Socorro Flores Liera. They will oversee the pre-trial process, which includes setting a date for the confirmation of charges hearing.
