Hyderabad MLC election polling scheduled for April 23

The Election Commission has announced the schedule for the Hyderabad Local Authorities Constituency (LAC) Legislative Council seat. Polling will take place on April 23, 2025. The notification for nominations will be issued on March 28. Candidates must file their nomination papers by April 4. A scrutiny of these papers will happen on April 7. The last date for withdrawing nominations is April 9. Counting of votes will occur on April 25. This election is necessary because the term of the current member, M.S. Prabhakar, ends on May 1. Recently, five MLC positions from the MLA quota were filled without opposition. Three candidates from the Congress, one from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and one from the Communist Party of India (CPI) were elected. In a surprising result, the BJP won one seat in the Teachers and Graduates constituency elections earlier this month.
