Huntington Beach wins Boras Classic South opener 4-1

Huntington Beach's baseball team won 4-1 against Aquinas in the first round of the Boras Classic South tournament on Tuesday. The Oilers are now 7-0 this season and continue to hold a strong position in high school baseball rankings. Senior pitcher Otto Espinoza was impressive, allowing only two hits in five scoreless innings. He struck out seven batters while walking one, helping his team secure the victory. Meanwhile, Trevor Goldenetz contributed offensively with a two-run double and made a highlighted catch in the outfield. Huntington Beach took the lead in the third inning. Ethan Porter hit a double, and the Oilers scored after an infield error. Goldenetz's double in the fourth extended their lead to 3-0. A perfectly placed sacrifice bunt from Owen Bone in the fifth inning added another run, making it 4-0. Aquinas, who had previously been undefeated, managed to score in the seventh inning with back-to-back doubles. Huntington Beach will next face La Mirada in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
