Hungary's minister visits Russia for the thirteenth time
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto was seen jogging along the Moscow waterfront. This marks his 13th visit to Russia since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began three years ago. He shared a photo of his run on Facebook, stating he was "gaining strength." Szijjarto arrived in Moscow on March 26 to discuss peace, energy security, and economic cooperation. He believes that U.S.-Russian peace talks have made the world safer. However, his frequent trips worry European politicians, as few close allies of Russia visit as often. Concerns grow that Szijjarto’s actions represent Hungary’s pro-Russian stance under Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Hungary has sought economic benefits from its ties with Moscow, obtaining exemptions from EU sanctions on Russian oil and increasing natural gas purchases significantly.
