HPE launches El Capitan supercomputer to boost AI and high-performance computing
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has launched a new supercomputer called "El Capitan," which is designed to enhance high-performance computing and artificial intelligence capabilities. This system is expected to significantly improve processing power compared to previous models. El Capitan features 1.742 exaflops of performance and is equipped with advanced processors, including AMD's MI300A APU. It aims to support complex simulations and AI workloads, marking a major upgrade from existing systems. The new system is part of HPE's collaboration with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) and is designed to meet the growing demands for computational power in scientific research and national security applications.
