Kevin Field, a 28-year-old runner from Hong Kong, is taking on an impressive challenge to help others. He will run a 50km ultra-marathon every day for a week, starting Saturday. This means he will run a total of 350 kilometers in seven days. Field has been training for nine months to prepare for this tough feat. He plans to run a 5km loop between the Central Harbourfront and the Wan Chai promenade, completing it ten times each day. His goal is to raise HK$35,000 (about US$4,500) for Run Hong Kong, a charity that helps refugees and asylum seekers through sports. As of Friday morning, Field has already raised nearly HK$11,000. Though some may see his goal as extreme, Field believes it is important to inspire others. “All I’m really trying to show is if you put a little bit of time, and a little bit of effort into things, you can actually achieve some amazing things,” he said. Field has ties to both Britain and Korea but has grown up in Hong Kong. He now works as a gym manager in Singapore while also splitting his time between the two cities. Sports have always been a part of his life, and he has a particular passion for rugby.
