Hong Kong health minister reports unvaccinated child in intensive care with flu complications
A four-year-old unvaccinated child has been admitted to intensive care in Hong Kong with flu and a pneumococcal infection. Health Secretary Lo Chung-mau highlighted that the child's school did not participate in the government’s flu vaccination program. Lo criticized schools opting out of the vaccination drive, stating they lack justifiable reasons. He noted that six children died during last year's flu season, with hospital admissions for flu cases already exceeding the seasonal threshold. The vaccination rate has increased by 5 percent compared to the previous flu season, according to Lo.
