Homeless man killed by train in Manhattan subway station

A homeless man was killed by a train in a Manhattan subway station on Wednesday afternoon. Police say he was in his 30s and was on the tracks when a northbound E train hit him at the Fifth Avenue-53rd Street station around 12:25 p.m. Witnesses reported that the train conductor spotted the man moments before the collision. Emergency responders arrived but declared him dead about 20 minutes later. His identity has not been released as authorities notify his family. Following the incident, northbound trains were rerouted, skipping the station for several hours. This tragedy occurred just one day after another man was also killed by a train at the Union Square station. Police believe neither incident involved criminal activity.
