Homeless encampment causes issues in City of Industry

Residents and businesses in the City of Industry are unhappy with a growing homeless encampment at a storage lot for empty RVs. About 50 RVs, which should be vacant, have been broken into and are now sheltering homeless individuals. This situation has led to fires and vandalism at the site. The storage lot is located near Azusa and Gale avenues. It is leased to various companies, including the RV company Black Series and a Nissan dealership. Gerardo Torres, who works at the dealership, reported that people have been vandalizing the RVs, breaking windows, and causing trouble. Some dealership employees have had altercations with those staying in the RVs, which they want to avoid. This problem has been ongoing for eight months. City manager Joshua Nelson stated that the city is working with property owners and the Industry Sheriff's station to address the situation. He explained that this issue is a private dispute between the property owners and the homeless individuals. Edward Ramirez, who claims to work for the property manager, mentioned that bulldozers will be brought in soon. "This week or the end of next week we'll start cleaning up the mess and disposing of the trailers," he said.
