"Holland" film originally envisioned differently with new cast
The movie "Holland" has recently premiered on Prime Video, starring Nicole Kidman. The film is a mystery thriller about a schoolteacher who suspects her husband of infidelity. As she investigates, she uncovers dark truths about her spouse. Originally, the movie was set to be produced in 2013 under the title "Holland, Michigan." Back then, it featured actors like Naomi Watts and Bryan Cranston, and it was described as a "suburban thriller laced with black humor." However, production was abandoned by 2015. Amazon Studios revived the project in 2016 with a new cast and crew. Director Mimi Cave altered the timeline to the year 2000 to better reflect themes of isolation. She also ended up filming in Clarksville, Tennessee, instead of Holland, Michigan, to suit her vision. Cave felt a personal connection to the story, citing her own experiences growing up in the Midwest. "Holland," now a Hitchcock-style thriller, is an impressive reimagining of the original concept. The film is currently available for streaming.
