Heyward supports Rodgers joining Steelers if he wants
Pittsburgh Steelers captain Cameron Heyward has clarified his recent comments about quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He said he didn’t intend to sound negative about the idea of Rodgers joining the team. Heyward emphasized that if Rodgers wants to be a Steeler, he should make that choice. Heyward had expressed reluctance to engage in unconventional recruiting tactics, saying it’s simple: players should want to become part of the Steelers. He mentioned that having someone like Rodgers would be exciting, but the quarterback must make his own decision. Despite previous recruitment efforts for other players, Heyward admits he has not spoken to Rodgers, even during the quarterback's recent visit to the Steelers' facility. He believes the team wants to win and is focused on bringing home another championship. As the Steelers wait for Rodgers to decide, Heyward remains hopeful for a sooner-than-later outcome, ideally before the NFL draft. He stressed the importance of building relationships between the players as they prepare for the upcoming season.
