Hendersonville honors 7-year-old Piper Elliott's memory

The Hendersonville community is honoring the memory of 7-year-old Piper Elliott, who tragically drowned last July. A memorial bench was dedicated earlier this month on the Sanders Ferry Greenway in her name. Piper's father, Jon Elliott, and many community members attended the ceremony. The bench, placed near a memorial site created by residents, features an inscription that reads, "A legacy of kindness that will never fade." It includes Piper's name, birthdate, and the date of her death. Piper drowned on July 13, 2024, near Drakes Creek. Her mother, Brandi Nicole Elliott, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection to the incident. The case is ongoing, with a settlement hearing scheduled for March 31. Hendersonville Parks Director Andy Gilley expressed the city's commitment to preserving Piper's spirit. He noted that Piper was known for her cheerful nature and her love for everyone. The community's response demonstrates their support for Piper's family during this difficult time.
