Heavy snow forecast for southern Manitoba this week

A winter storm is on the way to southern Manitoba. Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a special weather statement for areas west of Winnipeg. Heavy and blowing snow is expected to arrive late Thursday. Forecasters predict the Parklands area will see the most snow, with totals between 10 to 25 centimeters. Lead forecaster Brad Vrolijk mentioned that the storm is developing in Alberta and will move east through Saskatchewan. Winnipeg may also experience some snow. Vrolijk noted that the city is "on a knife’s edge" regarding the storm's path. Currently, it looks like most of the snow will pass to the north of Winnipeg, but this could change. Residents can enjoy a warm Wednesday with temperatures reaching around 10 degrees Celsius. However, Vrolijk warns that the pleasant weather will not last. “It’s going to be a gorgeous spring day, but things will kind of take a turn,” he said. A significant snowfall is expected following the warm day.
