Haryana CM urges focus on cleanliness and drug de-addiction
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has urged newly elected representatives to focus on key issues like cleanliness and drug de-addiction. He spoke during the oath-taking ceremony for mayors and municipal officials in Panchkula. Saini emphasized that these leaders should transcend party politics and embrace a mission-oriented approach. He highlighted the importance of tackling drug abuse and promoting the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao initiative from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to Saini, the recent civic elections showed that people want transparency, development, and good governance. He called on representatives to ensure cities are clean, safe, drug-free, and self-reliant, stating that the prosperity of Haryana depends on their efforts. He introduced the "Manas Portal," designed to share information about drug-related issues. This initiative is monitored by Union home and cooperation minister Amit Shah. Saini encouraged residents to report any drug sales in their areas using this portal. The chief minister mentioned that urban local bodies are crucial for implementing government projects. He announced an increased budget for the Urban Local Bodies department, raising it to ₹5,666 crore to support development efforts. He also released ₹587 crore for various improvement projects. Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel added that representatives must meet public expectations and solve local issues. He reiterated the importance of making the government’s schemes accessible to the people.
