Hapn exposes names of thousands of GPS tracking customers due to server bug
A security researcher discovered a bug in GPS tracking firm Hapn's servers, exposing the names and workplace affiliations of thousands of customers. The issue affects over 8,600 GPS trackers, allowing anyone with a Hapn account to access this data. Hapn, previously known as Spytec, provides tracking devices for vehicles and personal use. The exposed information includes customer names but does not reveal location data. Hapn has not responded to inquiries regarding the breach. The researcher began investigating after finding customer reviews suggesting the devices were used to track spouses. Many individuals listed in the exposed data confirmed their names and workplaces but declined to discuss their use of the trackers.
