Hamilton man indicted on multiple child sex-related charges

A man from Hamilton has been charged with multiple sex-related crimes against children. Roger Reed, 40, was indicted by a grand jury in Butler County on several serious offenses, including two counts of rape and two counts of sexual battery. The charges against Reed also include five counts of gross sexual imposition. A bond of $500,000 was set for him. The alleged crimes date back to December 2019 and occurred as recently as December 2024. Four of the charges involve children younger than 13. Reed appeared in court on Monday without a lawyer. He informed the judge that he plans to hire one. During the court session, he waived the reading of the indictment. Judge Greg Howard warned Reed about the serious nature of the charges. He noted that two of the counts, related to rape, could lead to a life sentence. Reed is scheduled to return to court at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday to either enter a plea or set a trial date. If he has not secured legal counsel by then, the court will assist him with representation.
