Hamas returns remains of Bibas family and Oded Lifschitz to Israel in ceasefire exchange
Hamas has returned the remains of four Israeli hostages, including Shiri Bibas and her two children, Ariel and Kfir, to the Red Cross in Khan Younis, Gaza. They were abducted during the October 7, 2023, attacks. The handover marks the first time Hamas has released bodies of hostages during the ongoing ceasefire. Hamas claims the Bibas family and another hostage, Oded Lifschitz, were killed during Israeli strikes, but Israel has not confirmed their deaths. The Red Cross is transporting the remains to the Israeli border for identification by authorities in Tel Aviv. The process may take time, depending on the condition of the remains.
