Hamas returns bodies of Israeli children and mother in Gaza handover
Hamas has handed over the bodies of two Israeli children, Kfir and Ariel Bibas, along with their mother, Shiri, marking the first release of deceased hostages since a ceasefire began. The handover took place in Gaza and was part of a broader agreement. The Bibas family was abducted during the October 7 attack by Hamas. Israeli authorities had not confirmed their deaths until now, despite claims from Hamas that they were killed in an airstrike. The remains will undergo identification before a formal announcement. Following this handover, six living hostages are set to be released on Saturday in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian detainees. Negotiations for further hostage releases and a potential end to the conflict are expected to begin soon.
