A new report reveals a significant pension gap, with new private sector retirees receiving an average of €774.18 monthly, while former public sector employees get €1,317.43. The report, based on April data, shows public sector retirees receive 70% higher pensions than their private sector counterparts. Of 25,328 pensions awarded, 14,167 went to private sector retirees and 1,578 to former public employees. The average pension is €842.21, with 4,672,963 pensions paid in April. The majority of main pensions are between €500-1000, and the monthly expenditure for pensions was over €2.7 billion.
