Government invests $170M to stabilize Panama's electricity tariffs
The government will contribute $170 million to the Tariff Stabilization Fund to stabilize electricity prices for EDECHI customers. This aims to prevent drastic increases in consumer electricity bills. The Cabinet Council approved Resolution No. 67-25, authorizing the National Authority of Public Services to implement the scheme. This includes temporary state contributions to the fund and new electricity tariffs for final consumers from July 1st to December 31st, 2025. The funds will subsidize electricity for customers using less than 300 kWh monthly. Additionally, Resolution No. 68-25 extended the Western Tariff Fund scheme until December 31st, 2025, benefiting customers in specific areas.
