Google launches PDF summarization feature in Files by Google app

Google has launched the long-awaited "Ask about this PDF" feature in the Files by Google app. This functionality allows users to summarize lengthy PDF documents, enhancing document review efficiency. To use this feature, devices must run Android 15, have a Gemini Advanced subscription, and set Gemini as the default assistant. The rollout is ongoing but not yet available to all users. Previously, Google introduced similar features like "Ask about this screen" and "Ask about this video." The new PDF feature is part of a broader effort to integrate Gemini AI across various smartphone functions.
