Google launches AI co-Scientist tool to assist researchers in generating new hypotheses
Google has launched a new AI tool called 'AI co-Scientist,' built on its Gemini 2.0 model. This system acts as a virtual collaborator, helping scientists create original research and hypotheses, moving beyond traditional research tools. The AI co-Scientist uses a multi-agent framework to automate research processes, including generating and refining hypotheses. It incorporates web searches and specialized AI models to enhance the quality of its outputs. The tool has been validated through laboratory experiments, successfully identifying novel drug candidates and insights into antimicrobial resistance. It is currently available through Google’s Trusted Tester Program for research organizations.
