Google, Kairos build advanced nuclear plant

cnbc.com

Google and Kairos Power will deploy an advanced nuclear plant for the Tennessee Valley Authority grid by 2030. The Hermes 2 reactor will supply up to 50 megawatts of power, enough for 36,000 homes, to Google's data centers. This marks the first U.S. utility power purchase agreement for such a reactor. Kairos and Google will cover the construction costs and financial risk, with TVA providing a revenue stream through the agreement. The plant is slated to begin operations in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, in 2030.
