Google canceled Pixie for the Pixel 9

In late 2023, reports indicated Google was developing Pixie, an AI assistant for Pixel phones, planned for the Pixel 9 in 2024. It was designed for on-device AI tasks using a Gemini Nano model. However, Pixie never launched. Instead, Google shifted focus, and Pixie's planned features, like personalized assistance using local AI, were integrated into other apps. Some functionalities appeared in the Pixel 9 through Pixel Screenshots. Future Pixie-inspired features may arrive with the Pixel 10 in a new app, Pixel Sense. This app will likely provide predictive information based on data from Google apps, operating entirely on-device, keeping user data private.
