Glamping park in Randalstown faces neighbor complaints
A glamping park in Randalstown, Northern Ireland, has faced backlash from local residents, who describe it as a "field of nightmares." Cotters Park was intended to be an eco-friendly venue for food tourism, with events like cookery nights. However, since opening in December 2023, it has hosted noisy parties that have caused disturbances late into the night. Neighbors have complained that the noise and bright lights from the venue resemble an airport landing strip. An eco-assessment released last month indicated that the lights may be harming local wildlife, particularly bats, which have shown a decline in the area. In response to the ongoing disruptions, a group called Residents Opposed to Cotters Park has been formed. Member Bernie Crossan expressed frustration, stating that the situation has become unbearable for local residents. They are now calling on the local council to take action. John Blair, a local representative from the Alliance Party, initially supported the glamping park's eco-friendly proposal. He has since changed his stance, urging the owners to address the complaints from nearby residents. The Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is currently investigating the issues raised and is taking the complaints seriously.
