Germany's latest polls show Christian Democrats leading ahead of federal elections

In the latest polls for Germany's 2025 federal election, the centre-right Christian Democrats (CDU/CSU) are projected to win 30% of the vote, gaining 220 seats in the Bundestag. This is an increase from 24% in the last election. The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) is expected to finish second with 20% of the vote and 145 seats, doubling its previous share. This would be the AfD's best performance since World War II. Chancellor Olaf Scholz's Social Democrats (SPD) are forecasted to drop to 16% and 115 seats, marking a historic low. The Greens are projected to receive 13% and 94 seats, down from their previous election results.
